This ‘minor weed’ can be found here and there in my potager… it has delightful flowers and apparently, it is an important source of nectar for bees…

Like the first caption, the scientific name is Bergenia stracheyi… would again prefer its Japanese name… Himalaya Yuki no Shita ヒマラヤユキノシタ… literally, the Snow beneath the Himalayas…
Originally found in the Western Himalayas, at heights ranging from 2700-4700 meters… and to think that we are sited at about perhaps 30 to 40 meters above sea level…

The one who named these flowers are very creative.And it cause no harm to be creative.
I love all of them but the shape of the flowers in the first photo is so beautiful, as if two eyes with big ears are popping up to see what's happening around it! You referred to its source from the Himalayas, so even if you are located very low ASL, you are so cold as that of the Himalayas.
It's really nice and beautiful. I learned a lot about flowers. 🙂

Spring looks lovely there… we had pickled wild hyacinth bulbs in Italy, a specialty in Puglia, maybe the wild are different than the cultivated?
