Whooopeeee… finally the birds came…
Today, we were very excited to be receiving two chickens…
A well-known chicken-layer company brought the two birds to our home…
The President of the company himself, no less…
The birds are what he called, locally bred ‘Momiji’ aka ‘Autumn leaves’…
Good layers they are, according to him…
Having been born on 11th September (of all dates…) 2012, they are about 8 months old…
Just about the right age for laying eggs, apparently…
PS: Actually, rare seldom as it is, all pictures this time were taken by my missus…
Hi Lrong, why are they rare? I once bought 3 black Japanese chickens. They are small with thick feathers and have feathers also on the legs. They always go together and the nephew and niece were very small then and love them so much. However, they have short lives but they left their genes with our native chickens. Ours become much smaller, shorter and hairy legs and susceptible to disease. But they are beautiful.
Andrea… wrong use of terminology on my part… the ‘rare’ actually refers to the rareness of my missus taking pictures that end up in my blogs… this time, I was busy setting up the chicken coop and she was observing and hence, the pictures…
Now that is neat!!!!robbie:-)
Thank you Robbie!
Lrong…your “missus” did an excellent job…the chickens are beautiful…hope they will be good layers!
Thank you Theanne… think she had a ‘good coach’… 🙂
I think so too 😀
I’m just as excited to see them. Brings back all the memories of my childhood. I wish I have space to rear chickens again!
Brings back my childhood memories too… we used to have flocks of ‘free range’ chickens and ducks running around the house…
Beautiful and healthy birds, they look so cute!
Thank you, Mac… am very happy with them… 🙂
Yay for chickens. I hope yours prove to be as entertaining as ours are.
Hi Liz… we are only into our fourth day with the chickens and we are quite pleased to be ‘entertained’ by their behavioral patterns…. 🙂
I am jealous..you will be eating fresh eggs. The chickens look lovely.
We are enjoying fresh eggs for our breakfast each morning… really nice… and the two birds are keeping healthy for now…
