I normally buy just two pots of cauliflower seedlings each autumn…
And after a few months in the potager, woah…
My missus made me a delicious curry out of it…
Same with the broccoli…
Only two pots of the seedlings…
And they never fail to give me a good harvest…
I like the combination of colors in this potato shot…
The Japanese have a word for it…
‘Ko-haku’… Red and white, which is normally used to celebrate events…
These ko-haku potatoes are just more or less one centimeter in diameter…
Still, they tasted quite good…
These are the bigger ones from the same harvest…
It is always a nice feeling to be harvesting these tubers…
And these too… the bigger ones from the same crop…
The flesh is yellow, and rather firm…
Carrots… hmmm, rather miserable looking, aren’t they?
They were self-seeded, and I transplanted them…
Perhaps there is some truth in carrots disliking being transplanted… no?

A lovely harvest shot Lrong. So far we have only harvested berries and zucchini as our growing season has been quite slow this year thanks to it being a lot cooler than usual Australia wide. We think we have swapped weather with New Zealand who are having a much hotter summer than they are used to. Not that I am complaining! I would just like my tomatoes to ripen is all ;). Thank you for sharing your lovely garden produce and those cauliflowers and broccoli are very beautiful indeed and I bet they tasted amazing 🙂

Mine are all covered in powdery mildew at the moment but are still producing a lot of fruit. The scourges of damp heat. It will be fun to read about your spring veggies when we are in our autumn and I am growing cabbages and cauliflowers 🙂
Wow, I like all your harvest! My broccoli seedlings are growing but rather slow! Same with my baby carrots plants. Wish I could grow potatoes, I tried but failed. The plants grow lush and healthy, but it suddenly wilted and died, and no potatoes. Our weather may be too hot for it, but I’m not giving up, will try again. Pretty ume flowers!

I am preparing to grow potatoes again in a while… keep trying with your potatoes… if the weather is too hot, perhaps you can offer some partial shade for the plants?

Lrong:-) You are back!!! I know you are busy teaching, I miss your amazing photos of all your produce + flowers. I grow carrots and most of the time they just have “issues” in my potager. I don’t know. I know other gardenrs use carrot tape and they always looked beautiful. I am trying a French round one this year. My soil is not great + it is hard for me to leave carrots that long in the ground-I need the space. I did have a good harvest one year:-) That year, I was on my knees thinning them out and the dirt was a bit deeper. I’ll let you know how the shorter ones do for me this year. I also am trying an all purple one. My fingers are crossed, but usually I find them difficult to get large as they have in the store. I”ll try one more time:-)
Your potatoes look yum! I had a critter snatch all mine last year! I need to keep them closer to the house so they can’t snatch my food!

Yeap, I am back… err, yes, I am busy at the university, but I also have too many hobbies and chores to do, all of which are competing for my limited weekend hours… I like they way you mentioned ‘issues’… had a good laugh over it… yeap, thinning the carrots can be quite a tiring process… I have not tried growing the purple ones before…
I am glad I made you laugh! We all need to do more of it in this life:-)

Beautiful harvest photos, I haven’t grown cauliflower in a while maybe sometime this fall I’ll give it a go, freshly harvest potato is my favorite!
Cauliflower is a joy to grow, and eat as well too… of course, the same goes to potatoes… 🙂
